Spreading at an average rate of roughly 2,186 acres per day over its first two days, the active Widemouth 2 Fire has scorched 4,371 acres of federal chaparral land just two miles southwest of Kanosh, Utah, within Millard County. Driven by active behavior and long-range spotting through six-foot brush, the blaze is currently uncontained as 105 personnel under a Type 4 Incident management team battle the flames, which have accumulated 24 satellite heat detections in the past 48 hours.
Sparked by natural causes on July 27, 2026, the wildfire has already accrued suppression costs of $300,000 under the direction of the USFS.
