The Cottonwood Fire remains active in Beaver County, Utah, approximately five miles east of the city of Beaver. Since its start on June 22, 2026, the wildfire has burned 97,135 acres of federal land managed by the United States Forest Service (USFS). Currently classified as a Type 2 Incident, the fire is being managed by a Complex Incident Management Team. Firefighters have successfully achieved 70 percent containment on the blaze, which has incurred an estimated cost of $49,400,000.
There are 1,043 personnel assigned to the incident, battling moderate fire behavior characterized by creeping, smoldering, and single tree torching. The fire is primarily consuming timber litter and understory fuels. Resources continue to work diligently to suppress the remaining active portions of the fire.
