After burning for 31 days, the Sycamore Fire has reached full containment 15 miles north of Globe, Arizona. The blaze, which consumed 11,939 acres of federal land in Gila County at an average rate of 385 acres per day, is now showing only minimal, creeping, and smoldering behavior within the short grass fuel beds.
Managed by the USFS as a Type 4 incident, the operation concluded with 12 personnel assigned to the site. The natural-start fire resulted in a total suppression cost of $12,729,031.
