127 named fires are burning around the world right now, covering roughly 1.8 million hectares between them, based partly on satellite estimates. The biggest is Collins, in Canada, at around 301,240 hectares. 320 new fires appeared this week, and the count is falling compared with a week ago.
Most of the activity is in Canada (44 active fires), United States (26) and Australia (20). France is having an unusually hard year: 98,642 hectares so far, 568 % above its average.
