236 named fires are burning around the world right now, covering an estimated 1.9 million hectares between them by satellite estimate. The biggest is Collins, in Canada, at around 301,240 hectares. 341 new fires appeared this week, and the count is holding steady compared with a week ago.
Most of the activity is in Canada (47 active fires), United States (38) and Brazil (11). France is having an unusually hard year: 98,459 hectares so far, 567 percent above its average.
