Satellites tracked a moderate heat signature from the incident, picking up three heat detections over a recent 48-hour window that mapped the final spread of the blaze near the city.
The fire ignited on August 15, right at the onset of the region's typical fire season which runs from August to October. Despite this local activity, national figures present a much quieter broader picture: across the country, 3,683,458 hectares have burned so far in 2026, marking an 88% decrease compared to the two-decade average.
