The Tucannon Mutual Aid Fire, which ignited on June 16, 2026, is now fully contained. Located eight miles east of Dayton, Washington, in Columbia County, the wildfire burned through 8,069 acres of private land. Fueled primarily by 2.5-foot tall grass, the fire's behavior has decreased to minimal activity, characterized by creeping and smoldering.
Now classified as a Type 5 Incident, the fire is under the management of a Type 5 Incident Commander. Only two personnel remain on-site to monitor the fully contained area. The total cost of suppressing the wildfire reached $825,000.
