Averaging approximately 809 acres per day of growth, the Type 3 Incident was managed by a Type 3 Team utilizing four personnel and incurring a total cost of $1,100,000. Fire behavior on the short grass terrain, which featured one-foot fuels, was characterized as minimal, running, and flanking before crews successfully halted its progression following its start on July 31, 2026.

The Lumin Fire unfolded against a broader national backdrop for the typical fire season, which runs from June to October. Across the country, 2,702,782 hectares have burned so far in 2026, marking a total that sits 51 percent below the two-decade average.
