Averaging a rapid spread of approximately 655 acres per day across three days of burning, the human-caused Cold Springs Fire has scorched 1,966 acres of private land situated seven miles southwest of Douglas, Wyoming, in Converse County. Fire behavior has been characterized as minimal, running, and driven by wind through one-foot short grass fuels. Despite these active behaviors, ground crews and management successfully brought the incident to 100 percent containment.

Operations were managed by a Type 4 Incident Commander directing 78 personnel, culminating in a total suppression cost of $500,000 for the Type 4 incident.
