The Kane Springs Fire, located 17 miles southwest of Caliente in Lincoln County, Nevada, remains active but is now 99% contained. The natural-caused wildfire, which started on June 17, 2026, has burned 17,042 acres of federal land managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Fire behavior is currently minimal, characterized by creeping and backing through short grass fuels.
A Type 5 Incident Management Team, led by a Type 5 Incident Commander and consisting of a single personnel member, is overseeing the remaining operations. The total cost of the suppression efforts has reached $6,100,000.
