306 named fires are burning around the world right now, covering some 4.7 million hectares between them. The biggest is Collins, in Canada, at around 301,240 hectares. 181 new fires appeared this week, and the count is holding steady compared with a week ago.
Most of the activity is in Canada (182 active fires), United States (100) and Brazil (15). France is having an unusually hard year: 96,927 hectares so far, 557 % above its average, meaning it has burned more than five times its usual ground.
