304 named fires are burning around the world right now, covering some 4.5 million hectares between them. The biggest is Collins, in Canada, at around 301.240 hectares. 217 new fires appeared this week, and the count is holding steady compared with a week ago.
Most of the activity is in Canada (169 active fires), United States (104) and Brazil (18). France is having an unusually hard year: 97.202 hectares so far, 559 % above its average.
