Our interactive wildfire map uses satellite data from NASA FIRMS (Fire Information for Resource Management System) to display every active fire around the world. The satellites detect new fires several times a day and the map refreshes automatically every 10 minutes, surfacing wildfires, forest fires, agricultural burns, and other fire events detected by VIIRS satellites.

Our wildfire tracker uses data from NASA's VIIRS (Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite) satellite instruments. These satellites detect thermal anomalies indicating active fires and provide wildfire data updated multiple times a day to emergency managers, firefighters, and the public.
