An active wildfire covering 1,230 hectares (3,039 acres) is currently burning near Pulang Pisau, Indonesia, after igniting on October 11, 2026. Operating during the local dry season, the blazes have drawn intense satellite heat intensity readings as peak fire radiative power registers high temperatures along the active front.
Orbiting satellites have detected 99 heat signatures clustering nearby over the past 48 hours, underscoring the broad spread of the fire across the region. This incident unfolds during a particularly severe year for Indonesia, where 7,009,661 hectares have burned so far in 2026, marking a figure 96% above the two-decade country average.
