Satellites are picking up an intense heat signature over an active wildfire burning near Puerto Vallemí, Paraguay, where 39 thermal detections have been flagged in the last 48 hours alone. Spanning 530 hectares, or approximately 1,310 acres, the blaze began on August 27, 2026, and continues to actively consume the landscape in a region where the typical fire season generally occurs during the southern summer from roughly November to March.
