After burning for 17 days, the wildfire near the North Slave Region in the Northwest Territories continues to exhibit active behavior, with satellite sensors detecting 13 new heat signatures over the last 48 hours. The blaze has maintained a steady expansion, averaging approximately 988 hectares of growth per day since it ignited on June 26.
The fire has now consumed a total of 16,800 hectares, or roughly 41,514 acres, of land. Fire crews remain engaged as the incident persists in the region.
