The MOXEE ORCHARD Fire, which started on June 4, 2026, is now 100 percent contained. Located 16 miles east of Moxee, Washington, in Yakima County, the human-caused wildfire burned through 5,918 acres of short grass. Firefighters observed minimal fire behavior, characterized by creeping, backing, and smoldering across the affected private land.
Managed as a Type 3 Incident under a Type 4 Incident Commander, the suppression efforts involved 54 personnel. The total cost of containing the wildfire reached $80,000.
