The Hogatza Fire, currently an active Type 5 incident, is burning 33 miles northwest of Alatna, Alaska, within the Yukon-Koyukuk region. First reported on July 9, 2026, the fire has grown to 1,000 acres on state-owned land managed by the Alaska Department of Natural Resources. It is currently zero percent contained.
The fire, which was ignited by natural causes, is exhibiting active behavior characterized by torching and wind-driven runs through timber, litter, and understory. A Type 5 incident commander is currently managing the response efforts.
