Driven by gusty winds, the Grassy Hills Fire has consumed 2,800 acres of federal land 25 miles west of Rogerson, Idaho, in Owyhee County. Since its ignition on July 18, 2026, the blaze has exhibited active behavior characterized by wind-driven runs and creeping through 2.5-foot tall grass.

Currently managed as a Type 3 incident, the fire remains at zero percent containment with 25 personnel assigned to the response. The BLM-led effort has incurred costs totaling $100,000 as crews work to suppress the active, wind-influenced front.
