The story so far

Having burned for 45 days before coming to an end, the Bundy Fire in Edwards County, Texas, consumed 446 acres of private land located 10 miles southeast of Telegraph and near Junction. The incident began on September 14, 2026, and grew at an approximate rate of 10 acres per day during its progression through 2-foot brush.

By the time response efforts concluded, 44 personnel operating under a Type 4 Incident classification managed the situation, achieving 85 percent containment with support from the SFS. Fire behavior was ultimately characterized as minimal and smoldering.

This event occurred within a region where the typical fire season runs from June to October. On a broader scale, a total of 3,459,197 hectares burned across the country so far in 2026, placing the national burned area 37 percent below the two-decade average.
