Spreading across 15,000 acres of federal land 18 miles northeast of Dietrich, Idaho, the Black Ridge 2 Fire has reached full containment. The blaze, which ignited on July 17, 2026, exhibited extreme flanking behavior as it moved through 2.5-foot tall grass.
Managed as a Type 3 incident by the Bureau of Land Management, the fire incurred a total cost of $200,000. While the fire is now contained, satellite sensors from NASA FIRMS recorded two heat detections within the last 48 hours in the Lincoln County area.
