The Dry Canyon Fire, currently classified as a Type 5 Incident, is burning 14 miles east of Pioche in Lincoln County, Nevada. Since its start on June 26, 2026, the blaze has consumed 1,651 acres of federal land managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Fire behavior is currently characterized as minimal, with creeping and long-range spotting observed in timber, litter, and understory fuels.
The fire is 99 percent contained and remains active with three personnel assigned to the effort under Type 5 Incident Command. To date, suppression efforts have cost approximately $900,000. The cause of the fire has been determined to be natural.
